How to Quit Smoking
Cigarettes are designed to be addictive and incredibly hard to quit once you’re hooked. But, it is possible to stop smoking with a few key steps. These methods will certainly be useful. The steps below may seem basis but they’re also the key to successfully quitting smoking. Pay special attention to step #1 and please don’t take it lightly. Without this step the rest won’t work!
Steps to Quit Smoking
- Decide that you’re going to quit and nothing is going to stop you,.
- Decide on a quit date.
- Tell everyone you know that you are going to withdraw and on what day. This will give them fair warning to remind you, and this will help you adhere to what you started.
- Gather as much support as you can. Try to convince your spouse or partner or a friend to quit with you. Stick with a support group online or look for people who smokes in your location.
- Get rid of all smoking paraphernalia on your quit day. Throw away all cigarette, ash trays and lighters.
- Get busy. Visit restaurants where smoking is banned, play a sport, explore new interests. Take note that your cravings will be frequent, but these do not last long.
- Congratulate yourself every day you don’t smoke. Add up all the money you’re saving a month by not buying cigarettes
- Focus your attention on stopping to smoke, not maintaining your weight. Watch your weight before you have stop smoking but don’t focus on it. Allow yourself a few extra pounds. Do not be bothered. The goal is to quit smoking and that’s hard enough without dieting too. You can diet after you’re off cigarettes.
